So sleepy... slept at 1am last night...
weekend went by so fast... ate with my siblings for lunch on both days...we tried Crazy Ang Moh at Bishan North yesterday.... ooOo the owner is quite cute... but he's married!

I cycled on both days too to catch up on my sluggish last week... took bailey out for shit walk yesterday... his shit is starting to stop getting watery... i wonder what caused him to have watery shit?

Plot Summary

Holly and Gerry was a couple madly in love. Unfortunately, there came a time when Gerry pass away due to a brain tumour. By sending her letters after his death, Gerry helped Holly to move on with her life and live again.

Holly then proceed to find out more of how Gerry had loved her and that he’ll always be an important chapter in her life but life must still goes on happily despite him not being there.

With the help of Gerry, Holly managed to party in a gay bar, clear up Gerry’s belongings, go to Ireland, meet Gerry’s best friend and Gerry's parents, find out about Gerry’s childhood. Basically more about Gerry’s thoughts and things she had missed out on his life.

Thoughts

I just came back from watching “PS: I Love You” and I just could not resist writing a review about it. It is absolutely the best romantic comedy that I have ever watched to this date! Throughout the whole movie I could not get my eyes off the movie screen. (Even though I wanted to go to the loo!) Furthermore I either was laughing at their hilarious remarks, gimmicks, jokes or was crying secretly over the touching moments and when Holly was reading the letters.

It was so obvious how much Gerry and Holly was in love with each other; that Gerry painstakingly planned the letters to be sent after his death in order to aid Holly to move on with life. As Gerry was certain that without his help, she might not be able to let go and find happiness again when he is gone.

The dialogues in the show are amazingly witty and the characters are all unique and intriguing! You have Holly that is a bit blur and not knowing what to do with her life. Where at the beginning she was irritating to me from the way she treats Gerry.
Then there’s Gerry that’s an almost (I said almost cos he had a brain tumour and died, so maybe the genetic part is not that pefect?) perfect guy who can sing, has a sense of humor, tall and cute and can play the guitar!

How can I miss out Holly’s best friend, Denise that tries to find the correct husband using the weirdest tactics? She “hunts” by only asking further questions if the “prey” passes the previous questions…it’s damn hilarious! An example quote below
Denise Hennessey: Are you single?
Some Guy: Yes.
Denise Hennessey: Are you gay?
Some Guy: Yes.
[Denise walks away]
Denise Hennessey: [later] Are you single?
Ted: Yes.
Denise Hennessey: Are you gay?
Ted: No.
Denise Hennessey: Are you working?
Ted: No.
[Denise walks away]

And then you have Daniel that’s a really weird guy who liked Holly as a best friend. He is very straightforward and thinks that Holly is hot and said it straight in her face!

Holly’s mom is one of the most admirable mom in the world. She lost her husband when Holly was a teenager, managed to move on with life (without any letter’s help) and brought up her children, even owning a restaurant bar. She seldom smiles and looks as if she’s always angry, but she loves her children very much.

Finally there is William who has a really awesome butt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (ok that’s just for me) He does not play a major role in this film but he deserves some credit for showing me the clear and round firm buttocks :D He’s like an exact replica of Gerry in the show by the way.

Favorite moments (That either made me cry, laugh or just have an aching heart and go AWWWW)

- The first scene (the show is that good! First scene it grabs you!), when Gerry and Holly were quarrelling and they made up
- Anytime Holly opens up the letters and remembers the past; of how she and Gerry met.
- The boat scene in Ireland. The inflating of the life jackets was so funny!!
- When Holly was remembering the time she was singing at the Karaoke and fell down. It was another funny moment!
- Every time there is a witty dialogue.

PS: yes i know... this is just a fantasy for us to indulge in ;)

Yesterday i went for someone's baby boy's 1st month luncheon and after that went for someone's else birthday celebration. Was nice to catch up with people and talk about everything and just chill.... such a pity i didn't take pictures of the food :/

Weekend was alright... did quite a few things
Friday night was boring...didn't do anything...went home accompany mom

Saturday went cycling for a while then had a late lunch with an old colleague. He then asked a friend to join him and I had dinner with the both of them. Did enjoy chatting with them.

No msn and gmail for a week! and i've survived!!!! hahahaha

Ok... it's been a week at Morgan Stanley. I have to say I do like it there!
(except for the strict internet and personal securities stuffs...) The culture is very good... similiar to Microsoft. Everyone's very friendly!

My position there is of Associate. Weird how they do their position thingy. But I am doing development in the IT department. Mainly DSI (data sourcing and integration) with informatica and sybase. It's been a week and i had created a small .net application to help out with small data parsing issue. I've also started development on informatica. The finance jargons are killing me! and the new acronymns... omg.

I sorta miss sql2005.... :( sybase has this sql analyzer thing that does not have any color in their sql query window.. :( so sad.. very primitive

i'm starting to use putty again! can you believe it? i haven't used putty for like 3 years since i started out in Microsoft!
now have to recall my unix shell commands again! it's like back to uni!

My desktop stuffs are all pre installed... i don't have the permissions to install anything! not even fonts :( feel so paralyzed...

There's this Hummingbird application on my program files... no idea what it does!

Today is my first "unemployed" state.... morning wake up... ate one big pau....read news paper.... walked to alteration center but didn't open till 2pm!
So i went to meet my ex colleagues at Marina Boulevard for lunch. They came from sydney for training here... so i just catch up with them for lunch.
While waiting at the lobby i met alot of ex colleagues... so interesting that feeling... ex colleagues in just one day....hmmm

then after that i went to collect passport for my sister for the visa thingy... the ambassy only allow her to stay for 10 days...so duh... they think she what? i thought should give at least 1 month! dumb.

then i went to the alternation place to alter my pants...collecting it on saturday... then now relaxing at home...

SHIOK.

The day has come to leave Microsoft

Today was my last day at Microsoft.
Felt really sad... it had been 2 years 10 months.
I had learnt alot of things. Will definately miss the culture and people there. (not to mention the free condiments!)
But this is life... it still goes on... new people new faces to meet... new experience to explore...
I'm glad i'm still nearby so anytime I can still bump into them or meet any of them for lunch :)

I am grateful for the gifts, blessings and farewell lunches. A very heartwarming experience. :'(

Rainy weather, structs & classes

As usual, woke up this morning to a big downpour...so snoozed for 1/2 hour and still there's downpour....snoozed another 10 minutes still downpour...in the end i gave up...woke up my sister...and we both came to work wearing slippers...with shoes in bags.

Just realised the difference between structs and classes in .NET.

Classes are referred type whereas structs are not. Structs are just valued referenced.

Not sure if i'm making sense here, here's an example from Microsoft.

Resignation

Have also recommended a fellow colleague from my team to go for Barclays. I think he will fit in much better than me since he's more experience at development.
I hope one day I can try for Barclays again when I am better.

OK! today is a special day...
in the morning i had a 3rd & 4th round of interview with Morgan Stanley...
and the best question of the day... "how many hairdressers are there in Singapore?"
-_- naturally speaking... the interviewer and me calculated till we were confused...

And I just got news that I have managed to impressed the interviewers at Barclays! I really like the interviewers but instincts told me that i'll be happier and at ease at Morgan Stanley.... how? :|

Many of those looking for jobs definately will dread interviews....
After taking two 2hr tests for .NET and SQL2000 last week, i finally got a chance to have a face to face interview with Barclays Capital today. Boy did they drill my technical skills! I couldn't answer around 20% of their technical questions (.NET Framework, ASP.NET 2.0, OOP, SQL2000, SQL2005) and roughly 99.99% of their finance questions! :|

Some of the questions i was asked:

What is overriding?
What is overloading?
What are ViewState?
What are postbacks?
What are triggers?
What are the SQL joins and explain them.
What are indexes?
What is a dividend?
What is credit risk?
What do you know about investments?

Nevertheless, it was a good experience, the interviewers were nice, I could guess that they will be a joy to work with. I just couldn't help smiling at them ^_^ hehehhehehehehehe

Okie, I was suddenly pissed off at my list of MP3s one day as I have numerous of them that seems to have weird titles! So much so that I thought of writing a simple application that list out all my MP3 files and then filter out those that does not have a proper name to it. How should I do that? I am always getting confused over the different accounts.

My weekend was quite good =)
Had a nice Friday evening...
Saturday morning went cycling...then lunch with siblings.... then went to a friend's birthday party...(he got covered in whip cream and chocolate...)... then after that met another old friend for dinner and coffee....reached home around 12am =)
was good.

Sunday was more relaxing... lunch with brother....then bought some fruits and vegetables... and stayed home rest of the afternoon....

Oh he also bought alot of salak... so nice....

Today I went to a walkathon (12km)....walked to friend's house... +6km....
feet pain! towards the end rain...so drench then my shoe was wet so has squishy sound!

I don't understand it! Why are two of my fish dead again?! one of them this time has its eyes gorged out. I've ostracised the Auratus just in case. It's growing at an alarming rate!

I feel like baking a cake today... a chocolate cake... but feeling quite sian... so is still hesitating :/

Bought CPU and Mobo for my sister, who's PC has RIP. I've also bought for myself a 1GB ram ... weirdly enough... my PC has been running at a temerature of 50++ degrees...so strange.... so i took a really big fan to blast at it ... hopefully that'll do.

Today i went to the fish shop again but is afraid to buy anything for fear that they might either bully another fish or get bullied when added :/

Maybe i'll just wait for all of my this batch's fish to die...then buy a new batch? :/

Yay, it's a Friday, hopefully I don't need to work during the weekends!

I'm seeing Boon they all for dinner tonight, will be fun. Went to watch superman with them last week, that was nice. But superman's story got more weird leh :/

Anyway, it's a sunny friday... can't wait to go home, I think I should be able to finish off today so I don't need to come during the weekends. Don't want to come back weekends cause next weekend it's in the timetable that I have to come back to finish up the deadlines.

My parents are coming back tonight :) SALAK! ^_^

I love milo... just had a mug for breakfast... if there weren't anyone, i would have eaten milo just off the tin! It's so nice!!!

Yesterday evening, i met up with a best friend's friend i met in sydney ... she's going europe and the US for 5 weeks... envious!

I had a hard time at work trying to copy a database from another server without writing code. After several attempts and google, this is how I managed to restore a database from another database onto a different server,

A fish died again yesterday.... maybe I'm not cut out to be a fishlover :( after the Auratus died...the other Auratus became really really brighter...

Last night my sister made brownies, wonder how it went, she wanted it to be chewy so she left it in the oven for the whole night. Hehehehehe

This is one of my favourite recipes, found at www.allrecipes.com

Banana Loaf Cake

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
3 very ripe bananas

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Grease and flour a 5x9 inch loaf pan
Mash bananas and add flour, sugar, butter, vanilla, baking powder, baking soda and egg.
Mix well. Pour into loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 50 to 60 minutes,
or until toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean.

My parents are coming back to Singapore soon :) they are bringing salak! yay.... i really like to eat salak.... but eating too much of it cannot pangsai..... :/

Damn it, one of my loaches died today. The one with the beer belly :( so sad... i was kind of predicting it cause it was breadthing very fast for the past few days... but i never thought it'll die so fast :/
i hope it rest in peace in fishy heaven. *sighs*

I bought another two more clown loaches :D just to give the other two more encouragement to come out of their ceramic pumpkin. One of my clown loach has a very fat belly... almost looks like it's pregnant. But clown loaches don't breed in captivity, so I also don't know what's wrong with it. Maybe it's just obease!

But a good thing, the new loaches are more outgoing, so they are swimming around the tank instead of hiding. One of the older loach is coming out to swim around, left with the obease one, i hope nothing happens to it.

Listening to Singapore Idol 2 now... none of them can sing... and even if they can, they are very out of tune and sounds really wierd. My sister singing in the bathroom sounds better!

Home all alone, stupid siblings are out pat-tuo-ing -_- always leave me alone... only come to me when they want marni or bored! *mutters mutters* oh wellz.... hehehehhee

Sian ji phua + ji phua... tomorrow sunday.... then monday : i am going to be overloaded with work on monday :/

Was coughing my lungs out in the morning, my manager got worried and asked me to take half day off to see a doctor, which I did. I think unless I am dying, I won't see a doctor in Singapore again, so expensive!!!!!!!!!! $62 including the antibiotics, cough medicine and another medicine to stop phelgm. OMG.

That's what I miss about Australia, visiting the doctor is free. Hmm...but I have to remember that my salary has taxed on medical benefits.

My clown loaches are still not coming out, one of them sometimes comes out when I am not looking, but the other one seems to be constantly inside the pumkin pot. I hope it is alright. I'll give a few more days and let them settle down.

Here's some of my fishies! The striped one is a female auratus and the rest are electric yellows, I have no idea of the gender though. My clown loaches hides everytime I appear! They are sooooooooo shy -_-!

It's so amazing how time flies really slowly on Monday.....
Or maybe I was just too darn excited about my fish tank!
Just bought a tank on Saturday, on the left are some of my cuties! ^_^

Currently I have 2 clown loaches, 2 auratus and 4 electric yellows. ^_^ The clown loaches are still very shy and always hiding in the clay pumkin pot, I'm trying to lure them out by using cucumbers.

I am planning to get a bristlenose, but am still trying to find a fish shop that sells it. Last weekend I found a fish shop but there were 4 dead ones floating around that tank : I can't wait for my fishes to grow bigger, the auratus and electric yellows can grow up to 5" and the clown loach even more! 12" in the wild, but in captivity they grow to around 6". =)
